Well, it’s the end of spring 2012, which means I have officially completed my junior year of college! I can’t believe I am actually writing this because this means that I only have one more year of college before I go off into the “real world” which is both exciting and scary!

I ran my first ever 5K in Pittsburgh this February (in the snow no less!)
I tried to live-up every moment of this semester, both personally and professionally. I’m super proud of all the work that myself and my staff have done to continue to grow Her Campus Towson online magazine at Towson University. We conducted a major search to find the top freshman boy, raised a lot of money for She’s The First and had our first ever Zumba Party!

Her Campus Towson participated in the national She’s The First Cupcake Bake-Off to raise money for girls education in developing countries and won “Best Team Photo”
I’m especially proud of my interview with country music star Chuck Wicks and the profile I wrote of recent Towson grad Kara Manos, former associate magazine editor at Capitol File and founder of Politics of Pretty, a DC beauty blog. You can view the rest of the stories I wrote this year under the “Clips” tab.

Thanks for the shout-out on your site Kara!
I learned all about HTML and CSS during a digital publishing course. I used the knowledge I gained during that class to create a website in HTML and CSS called “Goodnight Tasty Cakes”-a site for diabetics and the people who love them.

This is a screenshot of the website I created, “Goodnight Tasty Cakes”
I also had the opportunity to intern at Baltimore magazine during the spring. It was a wonderful experience where I learned about the importance of fact-checking and what it is like to work in a professional business environment. I feel fortunate that I received several bylines in the magazines by writing short articles for the calendar pages. I even researched and wrote a sidebar about what’s new at the beaches for the June 2012 cover story about “The Shore Life.”
Personally, the highlight of the year definitely included the annual traditions of Homecoming, TigerTHON and Tigerfest. I had a blast at Virgin Mobile FreeFest, an all day music festival at Merriweather Post Pavilion and in New York City with my mama!

What a year! I can’t wait to see what is in store for me next year!
